The First "Founder Award" Contest on Print Typeface Design Came to a Successful Conclusion
The First "Founder Award" Contest on Print Typeface Design which aimed at promoting the development of Chinese character culture, received active responses from font designers at home and abroad. By the deadline, the organizing committee of the contest received 571 works from 462 participants. On December 14, the organizing committee held the award-granting conference for the Contest at the Founder Building. The participating leaders and judges spoke highly of the result of this contest and its positive significance, regarding it as an impetus for developing the traditional culture, driving the innovation of print typefaces, training the font designers, and enriching the print typefaces.
Founder Font Embarked the Website myfonts
Since July 2001 Founder has been successfully selling its Chinese fonts on Bitstream's website (http://www.myfonts.com) becoming the first vendor to offer Chinese fonts. Bitstream, an American company, started using Founder's fonts in its embedded systems in 1998. Today's cooperation will develop and lay the groundwork for even tighter collaborations.
Founder Font Joined in the "Color Beat" Campaign
To extend the influence of Founder's fonts in the pre-press industry, Beijing Founder Electronic Co., Ltd., in collaboration with "Desktop Yellow Pages", held a national marketing road show titled "Color Beat" from July 19 to August 28. In a warm and passionate atmosphere, the participants showed profound interest in Founder's fonts. The font tour successfully completed after passing 16 stations, covering provinces and cities in China's East, Central part, Northeast, South, Southwest and Northwest such as Beijing, Shanghai, Shenyang, Guangzhou, Wuhan and Lanzhou. With the attendance of graphic design professionals and output centers, the campaign was warmly echoed wherever it went, further building up the reputation of Founder's fonts in the pre-press market.
Founder Super Font Bundled with Microsoft Office XP
Microsoft's latest product, Office XP, was introduced in a grand event held at the China World Hotel on June 19, 2001. The new version of Office incorporates Founder's super font to support Chinese characters. The Founder Super Font supporting 65.000 Chinese characters.

The First "Founder Award" Contest on Print Typeface Design Commences
The First "Founder Award" Contest on Print Typeface Design was inaugurated on May 23 in Beijing International Exhibition Center. Its aim was to promote the development of Chinese computer font design, in an effort to push forward innovation and enrich the quality of typefaces used in Chinese periodicals, newspapers and other publications.

The event was organized by Beijing Founder Electronic Co., Ltd. and co-organized by China Newspaper Association, Hong Kong Designers Association and Macau Designers Association. Judges included the five leading figures in the domestic font and graphic design circles, Yu Binnan, Hua Weicang, Xie Peiyuan, Chen Youjian and Wang Xu. The Contest received active responses from the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Beijing Printing Institute, and captured nationwide attention. Many font fans were enthusiastic to take part in.

Founder releases new font
To address the shortage of Chinese typefaces, a historically problematic issue in the publishing and printing fields, Founder's Network Circulation Division, launched an additional 18 typefaces, including the Qi typeface, in 2001 to complement its 88 original typefaces. On April 27, the company held a press conference to launch Founder's new Qi typeface and other products at the State Press and Publication Administration. After the conference, the organizer and the participants had friendly communication concerning the typeface design. Founder's new font has satisfied the demand for an extensive and innovative font range in advertising design, print & publishing industries.
Founder GB18030 Font and Super Font pass the National Certification
To meet the rapid development of information processing technology, Beijing Founder Electronic Co., Ltd. has developed many TrueType fonts including five GB18030 typefaces, ShuSong, Hei, Kai, FangSong and SongYi, in accordance to the compulsory national standard GB18030-2000 "Information Technology-Chinese Ideograms Coded Character Set for Information Interchange-Extension for the Basic Set". To satisfy the special requirements of the ancient book editing and renovating and dictionary printing industries, the company also developed Founder Super Font, which includes 70244 Chinese characters. On February 16, 2001, Founder's GB18030 font and super font passed the national certification jointly held by the State Press and Publication Administration, State Linguistic Working Committee and National Print Typeface Working Committee. The experts maintained that Founder GB18030 font and super font, with their universality, compatibility and compliance, are up to the national character and printing standard and also are the prevailing international industry standard.
