July 5, 2006, organized by the Beijing University Founder Electronics Co., Ltd. caaompanized with Shutong’s wife, Yun-Fei Wang, as general adviser, the "commemorating Shutong for a century- 'Founder Award' Shu style Chinese calligraphy contest" was Success. The entries covered 27 provinces and collected a total of 638 entries.

Famous Chinese calligrapher Zhang Biao, Yu Shuguang, Ma Xiao, "Chinese calligraphy" magazine editor-in-chief Zhou zhigao, the vice chairman of the central immediate opportunity calligrapher Association Zou Dezhong and General SHU’s families participated in the assessment.

After the judges carefully assess, ZHANG WENYI, Shandong Zaozhuang, won the first prize; second prize winners are Chenyanmeng, Beijing, Yang Mengfa, Shijiazhuang, Hebei, the third prize winners are Wang Jiying, Taian in Shandong , Guo zhenhua, Zibo City, Deng Yiqun, Fujian. They will receive 5,000 yuan, 3,000 yuan, 1,000 yuan bonus and award-winning certificate.

The contest started in November last year and lasted to May 30 this year, which do not charge any fee to the various organizations and individuals and has a nation wide coverage. The word content of entries required positive, healthy, progressive, cultural refined and should be Shu-style-brush calligraphy.

News Background:

SHU Tong(1905-1998) is an outstanding master of the calligraphy art, a people’s artist, the founder of Shu style, who is entitled as the "calligrapher on horseback" and "the party a pen" by Mao Zedong. The Shu style is also known as the "seven half book", that has the Kai, Xing, Chao and Zhuan style one each for Calligraphy, Yan, Liu style each for one and half points from He Shaoji style, which seems heavily guarded, the magnificent and is weighed by people in the world. SHU style began popularity from 1930's and 1940's of the 20th century and became a modern a peak in the calligraphy art altar. General Shu dedicated his Shu style art to Founder freely in his late years. Under the efforts of Founder, the "Shu style" character library was developed and has been widely used at home and abroad, which is the perfect combination between the modern science and technology and the traditional arts.

Today is the day of the General SHU TONG 100th anniversary of the birthday. Founder organized the pure public good activities "Founder Award" Shu style of Chinese calligraphy contest to memory the master of nostalgia. Founder Electronics president Liu xiaokun said in his speech that the developed Shu style Founder character library inherited and carried forward the art of Shu style which actively promote the traditional art heritage and development and made a useful experiment for generating the calligraphy social functions.
