Ren Wei-quan expressed at the starting ceremony, General Shutong was the esteemed older generation Proletarian revolutionist,also the old friend of Founder Electronics, and in his later age the General dedicated his Shu Font art without compensation to Founder Electronics, and under the effort of Founder Electronics, “Shu Font” word stock was developed and used widely both at home and overseas,this is the perfect combination of modern technolgy and traditional art. As the member of Youth Enterpriser Association, Wang Zheng had patronized in friendship the award ceremony of the 10 Prominent Youth of Second Software, and the Doctor Tang Zhi in Founder Electronics was one of the prize winners. That the two generations of the father and son became attached to China Software Industry was passed as a much-told story at that time.

   The noted people of caligraphic circle as editor in chief of Chinese Caligraphy Zhou Zhi-gao, Director of the Research Department of China Caligraphers Association Yu Shu-guang, Vice Chairman of Caligraphers Association directly under the central committee Zou De-zhong, the academic member of China Caligraphers Association Ma Xiao,etc. in their speech later, recalled General Shu Tong’s accomplishments in caligrapher art, and emphatically pointed out that his caligraphy was just as himself, the reason why the Older Shu stood apart by himself in the field of caligraphy,it was inseparable with his noble morality and refinement and cumstance of ideaology, and he was worth to be learned by us forever.

  Shu Tong (1905—1998) is one of the most prominent masters of caligraphy art, people’s artist, founder of Shu Font, and was named by Mao Ze-dong as “ Caligrapher on Horse back”, “a pen in the Communist Party”. Shu Font is also named as “ Seven and half Font”, i.e. it drew one part from each of regular script, cursive script, clerical script, seal character, and Yan Style and Liu Style, and half part from He Shao-ji, the degree of his caligaraphy is very stern, full of power and grandeur, is valued by the world. Shu Font began to be in popular in 1930s and 1940s in the 20^th century, and has become a high mountain peak in the circle of modern caligraphy.

   The  Vice General Manager of the Printing Art Institutional Department of Founder Electronics Zhang Jian-guo introduced the basic situation of the contest to the guests. He said, this year it was the 100^th anniversary of General Shu Tong’s birthday, Founder specially held a  pure non-profit activity “Founder Prize” Shu Font Caligraphy Contest, in order to express people’s cherishing the memory of the master. The Director of Founder Electronics Ren Wei-quan said in his speech, Founder had developed Shu Font word stock,inherited and carried forward Shu Font art, and had actively promoted the inheriting and developing of traditional art, and had made a benefitial trial for excavating the socialized function of caligraphy.
